Wimbledon and Ham Polo Club wedding for Holly & Peter's - when Brad Pitt almost came to the wedding.

I travelled a huge distance from my home in Surbiton to Wimbledon - all 7 miles, to photograph Peter and Holly’s wedding. They were to be married in the wonderful St Mary’s in Wimbledon and hold their Reception at Ham Polo Club in Richmond.

The Bride chose to get ready at her parents’ home in Wimbledon. The atmosphere was so relaxed. Holly’s Mum helped the bride into her dress. I have a soft spot for the mother of the bride and Holly’s mum was particularly lovely. Holly wore a vintage dress which suited her perfectly. There was a little gathering outside and friendly speeches amongst the bridesmaids made.

Peter arrived at the church and nervously waiting with his Best Man for Holly to arrive. This is probably the most adrenalin filled part of the day - the arrival of the bride. St Mary’s is at the top of Wimbledon village. The vicar had a background as a TV writer. Whilst researching a role he found his calling and became a vicar. He was a super easy going vicar and allowed me to sneak into the choir boy’s stalls to photograph discreetly during the service which was perfect because then I could catch all the great expressions and joy during the service but not be too visible to the family and friends in the congregation.

Holly and Peter made their way to Ham Polo Club in a vintage Beardmore car. En route we stopped for some quick relaxed portraits and then onto the party.

Ham Polo club is a stunningly relaxed venue, with mature vines mixed with modern interior. The Reception was held on the viewing platform overlooking the Polo field. The speeches were underway when the wedding organiser quietly informed the couple that Brad Pitt’s helicopter had landed in the grounds, hence all the paparazzi outside the gates. This led to an exodus to the viewing platform but to no avail. He was keen, but off he was whisked.

Back to warm loving speeches and dancing into the night.

Holly review of my photography services read:

“We feel so lucky to have found Gill to photograph our wedding day back in 2011. She captured so many beautiful moments - not only is her photography outstanding she is also wonderful at putting people at ease. She is so warm and friendly - I knew instantly she was the right person for the job! Gill has since taken newborn photographs of our children - more gorgeous pictures to treasure forever!”
