Hampton Court Golf Course Wedding in high summer for Louisa & Sean's

Updated: Dec 17, 2025

TL;DR: From a bespoke gown by Desi Wondi and Disney shoe details to a golden hour portrait session via golf buggies Louisa & Sean’s Surrey wedding had heart, humour, and heaps of style. If you're planning a relaxed, joy-filled celebration with a personal twist, their day might just inspire yours.

Getting Ready with Giggles and Lace

I arrived at the Mother of the Bride’s house on the morning of the wedding to the sounds of laughter and the smell of hairspray. Bridal prep is one of my favourite parts of the day well, apart from all the other bits I adore, of course.

Linda from Conran Bridal Hair and Make Up was working her magic on Louisa. Her bridesmaids were chatting and helping out, and the whole space buzzed with excitement. I've worked with Linda several time -she is amazing - so calm and friendly!

Louisa's dress was a bespoke creation by Desi Wondi, beautifully finished with lace added by her mum for a personal touch. The bridesmaids’ dresses were also bespoked by the bride’s mum a clever and very lovely lady. The colour palette was classic and fresh: whites, creams, soft peach, and eucalyptus green.

Bonus details I loved: Louisa’s shoes had a Disney-inspired message on the soles, and her sister (and Maid of Honour) tucked a handkerchief into her wedding dress pocket without the bride noticing - “just in case.” (Spoiler: it came in handy.)

Ceremony at St Mary’s, Ewell

As we arrived at the church, the drizzle gave way to sunshine classic wedding magic. The 1950s Rolls Royce Silver Wraith pulled up outside just as the stylish female vicar, dressed in light peach robes, greeted us with a warm smile. Bridesmaids adjusted Louisa’s dress outside the car while her brother, dressed proudly in his Fireman’s Uniform, waited to escort her down the aisle.

The ceremony was gorgeous and so personal. The vicar, conducting her first wedding at this church, spoke beautifully about how all the date changes led to this moment.

It was meant to be.

After the ceremony, the guests were on it organising themselves for the confetti throw. I love it when everyone is that keen.

That Downton Abbey Car and a Surprise in Home Park

As we made our way to the reception at Hampton Court Golf Course, we discovered the Rolls Royce had been featured in Downton Abbey, driven by the very same chauffeur. Yes, really. He was effortlessly cool.

Once we arrived near the venue, it was time for a little fun: golf buggies! Louisa and Sean took turns driving theirs. We zipped around Home Park to the Long Water in front of Hampton Court Palace, obviously never breaking the speed limit, and stopped for some portraits in that late afternoon light.

The Portraits That Tell It All - Golden Hour at Hampton Court Golf Club

From golden hour by the Long Water to spontaneous spins in the garden, Louisa and Sean’s portraits are a dream to look back on. Bubbles, hugs, and dance floor twirls all the moments that make your gallery feel like you. This golden hour session is one of my favourite memories from the day the joy, the glow, the couple’s easy connection.

Back to the Party

Back at the golf club, guests were enjoying the sunshine and swapping stories on the terrace.

The reception room upstairs was dressed to perfection: jade green sashes (matching the bridesmaids), oak-slice centrepieces with fairy lights and fresh flowers, and a seating plan crafted from palettes and painted place cards handmade by the groom and best man.

Each guest received a jar of homemade hot sauce or apple sauce, plus a mini pack of Polo Mints labelled: “Mint to Be.” It’s the thoughtful touches that make guests feel so welcomed.

Speeches, Surprises & a Hazmat Suit

The energy in the room was buzzing as Louisa and Sean entered to huge cheers. After dinner, the speeches began and they were something else.

Louisa’s sister kicked things off with a touching tribute. Cue those pockets coming in handy for a few happy tears.

Sean followed with a heartfelt speech, listing all the ways Louisa had been incredible throughout their long-distance relationship (including while he completed his Doctorate). They married on the 10th anniversary of the day they met.

Then came the best man. Not only did he make a film about writing his speech, he entered the room in a full yellow Hazmat suit. Yes, really. It was hilarious and still managed to end in tears of love and brotherhood.

The Fabulous First Dance

We ended with dancing, big hugs, flower wall photos, and the glowing “LOVE” sign framing their first dance. The joy was contagious.

The Bride and Groom said of me in their 5 star review:

“We hired Gill as our wedding photographer and were so pleased that we did. Gill did a fantastic job of taking some amazing natural shots during the wedding formalities whilst remaining inconspicuous. For the group and couples photos Gill was very efficient and kept the process fun and enjoyable. Gill was incredibly easy to get along with and was so helpful throughout the entire process, from first consultation to transfer of final photos. The final photographs were absolutely stunning and exactly what we wanted. We highly recommend Gill's services!”
